E-Shram Card

The Government of India started the e-Shram yojana to provide social security to the workers engaged in the unorganized sector. The government also launched the e-shram portal to collect data of all unorganized workers and provide them with the benefits of government schemes.

Any person working in the unorganized sector can apply for an e-shram card form through which they can get various eshram card benefits such as death insurance, pension after 60 years, and other types of financial aid in case of incapacity. In this article, we will explore the various benefits of an e-shram card, its registration process, and the download process.

e-Shram is a revolutionary initiative designed to offer a safety net for workers in the unorganized sector. It serves as a comprehensive database that not only registers workers but also facilitates their access to various welfare schemes and benefits.

All unorganized sector workers aged between 16 and 59 years can register for the e-Shram card. This includes individuals working as laborers, daily-wage earners, and others in informal employment. Importantly, you should not be a member of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO)/Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) or the National Pension Scheme (NPS).

The unorganized sector consists of the units or establishments engaged in the production or sale of goods and services and has employed less than 10 workers. These units should not be covered under the EPFO and ESIC Act. Employees working in companies classified as unorganized sector can apply for e-shram cards.

It also aims to bring informal workers into the formal economy by providing them with social security coverage and improving their access to financial services.
